SEXY GHOST OR LAZY BETTY

So, there I am last night wide awake at 12:57. You wanna know why?

A ghost event.

*Looks right at you and sagely nods*

This is what I determined when I saw the firmly closed closet door outlined in a series of bright white dashes. At first glance — which was immediate — think Bing! eyes open and Bam you see the anomaly.

This in itself is odd, because the closet is at the end of Cranky Contractor’s side of the room. It’s his, not mine. I get the big double door luxury setup on the other side of the room.

So there’s me staring at the vertical rectangle outlined in those soft golden dashes that bordered it, and I’m thinking…is that light square moving backwards?

Nope.

I realize it’s the closed closet door with the lights on. Hm...how can I see it from this angle? I’d have to be lying face up right over Cranky Contractor doing a AB crunch.

But then I blink and I’m back to my side of the bed with the damned light still shining in that closet. *Stares at you this time while I whisper like that kid who sees dead people *

Creepy…

Anyways, I check Cranky Contractor to see if he’s awake because, well, the light is on and it wasn’t on when we went to bed so I figure he’s the guy. He should shut it off, but he’s sound asleep.

So after I put this event down to three possibilities (A spooky ghost happening, a failed alien abduction, or a frogger <- have you guys heard about those people?) I get up and turn off the light even as I wonder about that weird position I first woke up to.

*Side-eyes you*

Maybe it was an Astro-projection happening?

Anyways, you gotta know this morning over coffee I tell him about it. I’m ready to discuss the three options with some pretty sketchy facts to back them up, when he says, “Oh sure. It’s probably the lazy switch.”

And there’s me narrowing my eyes, given what I write, heheheh, wondering how this happened because I've never written a switch character into my books, when he adds, “I’ve been meaning to change that. Do you want a dimmer toggle?”

Toggle? No. I didn’t want a dimmer toggle or a regular non-lazy switch. I wanted to explore the unholy happening that I imagined was going on in his closet. It is HIS closet which meant that I had a huge place to put the blame for some fun, right? And then there he is being so positive about the sensible switch explanation.

I get a little attitude, not too much or he wouldn’t listen when I reintroduce the topic at dinner. *Nods curtly here* because I intend to. So I say, “That light was off when we went to bed.”

He doesn't blink. “I know.”

“So it just turned itself on?”

And there’s me thinking because of what others write, ‘Wait, maybe it because they do.' Here's the definition of my genre of switches: Instead of staying in one fixed position, a switch moves fluidly between giving and receiving power.

Hm.... *Insert lightbulb moment here when I see the similarities* Pun intended.

I look up what a lazy switch was in his Cranky Contractor’s world and it says, ‘It's slang for a lazy Betty who fails to quickly snap back into place.’

*Raises brow at you*

Wow. I've missed an opportunity here as I never made a connection between these two worlds before. Electric power and a play for power.

Yay! There is hope yet to reinvigorate the topic.

Haha! Our dinner conversation has taken on a whole new slant.

*Cries laughing*

How’s everyone doing today? Good I hope.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
