Too Crazy?

So…there I am minding my own business, when I’m asked by formally known as Honey,(now cranky contractor because the grandkids think it sounds more butch) what sort of brick would I like when we do our gardens at the side of the property?

I shrug, because I’ve told him a million times and it seems that what comes out of my mouth about this isn’t what his ears want to hear. “I’ll send you a picture. I have the design theme I want all planned.”

He nods and gives me a side-eye. “As long as it’s not too crazy.”

There’s me thinking… Too crazy? Why else would I bother giving the design its own theme unless it was a little out there? I mean, if you’re going to go through the trouble, right?

That’s when my daughter calls. I love speaking with her. She gets me.

Any ways, she needs this bathroom model redone and I’m picking the theme for that too. So, she says, “Dad told me what you were thinking about for the walls and he thinks it might be a bit too much.”

Looks right at you and mouths Dad thinks? Yeah, that would be the problem. Dad is supposed to do. Just do people. I’m the designer, right?

So I say to her. “Don’t listen to your Dad. I’m working for you. He’s working for his expedient work hours.”

She laughs and says, “How difficult is that product to install?”

And I tell her the truth. “I have no idea. It’s not my job. My job is to get you that spa bathroom you’re after at the best price, right?”

She doesn’t give up. “He seemed pretty adamant about it.”

And there I am thinking. Wait until he sees the brick garden idea.

I sigh. “I’ll deal with him. No worries. Now, you remember that holiday book I said I was writing?”

She says, “Yes.” She sort of draws this answer out, like she’s worried.

“Well I want to publish it by Thanksgiving.”

This pronouncement is met with silence and then she says, “Well then, I needed it like a month ago.”

And there’s me thinking. Again not my problem. Waves a hand as I look at you for a second to let you know I am not worried about this at all, before I return my attention to her.

“I can have it to you by next week. How does that sound?”

She’s just in the middle of basically telling me, not great, when she stops to ask, “Wait, is that dad I hear in the background? Is he okay?”

“Oh, yeah,” I said. “He just got my themed landscape design picture for the side of the property.”

“Hang on. Is he laughing?”

“With contempt, but I can work with this. At least it’s not a definite no.”

Heheheh.

Geez… It’s a good thing we have one sane person in the family, right?

This is what I sent him.

Haha! After he gets over sharing this insanity with everyone – including our children, I’ll give him my version. Still crazy, but not as crazy as this first design. (which isn’t mine btw. I just thought it was FAB - probably AI generated)

See? Totally sane.

Anyone else got any crazy ideas for around the house? Let me know. I bet I can top your crazy. I have the infamous bird feeder fountain and the upside down bed risers turned garden planters, under my belt. Meh, I also have the time table. I may have turned the night stand table upside down, painted it black and white and put a clock in the bottom of it with a piece of glass over it, but it's more a work of art so they don't rib me over that.

Now...the bird feeder fountain?

Yikes!

As always, thanks for stopping by!
